Honouring Alberta’s heritage heroes

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Alberta Heritage Awards.

Alberta has a rich, vast history, and Alberta’s government wants to recognize the Albertans who help keep that heritage alive.

The Alberta Heritage Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of Albertans engaged in heritage preservation, protection and promotion. Individuals, non-profit organizations, corporations, municipalities, First Nations and Metis Settlements can be nominated for an award.

Through the Heritage Awards, Alberta’s government is honouring and celebrating the exemplary work of individuals and groups who help preserve and share the province’s heritage.

“Our province is full of natural treasures that tell the story of Alberta's rich culture and history. It's crucial to safeguard our heritage for the generations to come. These awards are a fantastic way to show our appreciation to the people and organizations who dedicate their time to preserving our past. I'm eager to see the amazing projects that are nominated this year.” — Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women

Albertans can be nominated in three categories:

  • Heritage conservation

  • Heritage awareness

  • Outstanding achievement
